Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is a key part of our conservative and comprehensive approach to patient care at Rockford Spine Center. Our in-house physical therapy practice is staffed by two certified physical therapists who work closely with physicians to support patients’ surgical or medical treatment.

Physical therapy starts with a thorough assessment. Therapists develop a treatment plan that can include any of the following:

  • Electrical stimulation
  • Heat/ice therapy
  • Taping techniques
  • Joint and soft tissue mobilization
  • Range of motion and strengthening exercises
  • Work related functional activities (proper lifting and bending)
  • Functional capacity evaluation (FCE)
  • Work hardening

Once therapy starts, physical therapists regularly reassess patients’ progress and have weekly meetings with physicians to ensure continuity of care.

Our physical therapists work with patients of all ages, from teens to seniors, through all stages of care. Physicians may refer patients to therapy as a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment, or recommend therapy after surgery to assist their recovery.
