The Rockford Spine Center (RSC) Physical Therapy Department is now offering dry needling therapy to patients.

Rockford, Ill. (December 7, 2015) – The Rockford Spine Center (RSC) Physical Therapy Department is now offering dry needling therapy to patients.

Dry needling is a therapy that addresses soft tissue dysfunctions such as hypertonicity; spasms, scar tissue; and adhesions. It’s used to re-establish homeostasis within soft tissue, which is the body’s ability to maintain stable temperature and energy levels.

Dry needling, also known as Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling, uses solid needles or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome. Dry needling is sometimes also known as intramuscular stimulation (IMS).

RSC Physical Therapist Kim Alexander, A.T.C., P.T., C.F.S.C., is trained in this technique, which helps patients with a variety of conditions, including tissue tightness, pain, trigger points and all soft tissue dysfunctions. This includes tennis elbow; golfer’s elbow; muscle strains & tightness; headaches; neck pain; lower back pain; and piriformis syndrome.
