Dr. Michael Roh, partner and orthopedic spine surgeon at Rockford Spine Center, is honored to be included in the new Rockford Art Museum exhibit Exposed: Akerlund, Hampton, Nordlof. Exposed focuses on the photographic passions of three local photographers, Nels Akerlund, Brian Hampton and Bradley Nordlof, whose varied techniques and backgrounds represent the diversity and style of photography today.

Dr. Roh is featured among Akerlund’s work, which portrays local residents in their day-to-day environment. The Rockford Art Museum touts the artist’s ability to “capture a moment of everyday life and transform it into raw wonderment.” In this exhibit, art is imitating life, but every day in the operating room life imitates art. Spine surgery is somewhat of an art form that takes extreme precision and skill – much like that of a sculptor. Through Exposed, visitors can get a glimpse into the environment where Dr. Roh and his colleagues help give patients their lives back.

“It is such an honor to be included in this exhibit. Nels is a gifted photographer with a creative eye,” said Dr. Roh. “For this collection, Nels has selected a dynamic group of individuals. That group represents the diversity and many talents within our community.”

Dr. Roh specializes in cervical and lumbar spine surgery, with a special interest in minimally-invasive spine surgery.

Exposed: Akerlund, Hampton, Nordlof is on view through August 11. To learn more, visit www.rockfordartmuseum.org.
