Dr. Fred A. Sweet born
in Sacramento, California, attended the University of California where
he received his B.A. degree in biology in 1984.
He continued his studies at Rush
Medical College, obtaining his Medical Degree (M.D.) in 1991 and
graduated as class valedictorian.
Dr. Sweet completed a
general surgery residency at the Naval Hospital in San Diego in
1992. He subsequently served on the USS Coronado Flagship as the
Medical Director from 1992-1994. He continued as a Lieutenant
Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve Medical Corps until 1999.
He went on to complete
his orthopedic surgical residency at Washington University in
1999. He then finished a fellowship in spinal surgery at Washington University
in St. Louis in July 2000.
Dr. Sweet
is active in
continuing medical education. He has received several awards,
given numerous lectures and written
several published orthopedic articles. He is a Clinical Assistant
Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He also
donates his time to the Easter Seals Children's Development Center.
Dr Sweet received his Board Certification
in Orthopedic Surgery in 2001.
Dr. Fred Sweet specializes in complex
spinal surgery with expertise in spinal reconstructions,
scoliosis, flat back deformity, and revision of
previous spine surgery.
When he is not practicing
orthopedics, Dr. Sweet enjoys weight training, fishing, computers, home
restoration, landscaping, and spending time with his
family. |
