Dr.
Michael Roh, born in New York City, New York, attended Brown University
where he received an undergraduate B.A. degree in computer
science in 1991.
He attended Brown University
Medical School, obtaining his Medical Degree (M.D.) and graduating as class valedictorian in 1995.
He subsequently completed his
orthopedic surgical residency at New
York Orthopaedic Hospital, Columbia University, New York, NY in
2001.
During
his orthopedic residency Dr. Roh completed New York Orthopaedic
Hospital, Columbia University's Basic
and Advanced Microsurgery
Course in 1997, and the Frank E. Stinchfield Orthopaedic Research
Fellowship in 1998. He also served as Stadium Physician, for the
New York Yankees Professional Baseball Club from 1997-1999
and as Administrative Chief Resident in 2001.
During
his residency, Dr. Roh scored 100% on his Orthopaedic In-Training Examination.
Dr.
Roh received several awards and honors
during medical school and residency.
Dr. Roh continued his
postgraduate studies by completing a fellowship in spinal surgery
at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis Missouri
in 2002.
Dr. Roh, a
clinical professor at the University of Illinois College of
Medicine, has given numerous
award-winning lectures and written several
published orthopaedic articles.
He also donates his time at
the Walter Lawson Children's Home.
He is an
active member of the Scoliosis
Research Society, and
a member of the North American Spine Society,
the
Illinois State Medical Society, the Winnebago County Medical
Society, and a fellow of
the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr.
Roh received his Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery in
2004.
He scored
99% on the written portion (part 1) of
the Orthopedic Board Examination.
Dr. Roh
specializes in cervical and lumbar spine disorders,
scoliosis, adult and pediatric
spinal reconstruction, and
MINIMALLY
INVASIVE SPINAL SURGERY.
Dr. Roh is a member of the Core Faculty Surgeons for the recently
introduced CERVICAL DISC REPLACEMENT,
recently FDA-approved for cervical disc disease.
When he is not
practicing spinal surgery, he enjoys spending time with his
family, classical piano, golf, tennis, skiing, and weight
training. Dr. Roh is also fluent in Spanish and is proficient
