Dr.
Christopher Sliva, born in Lynchburg, Virginia, attended
the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he received an undergraduate
B.S. degree in kinesiology in 1995. He graduated with high honors and
departmental distinction.
He attended Rush University
Medical School obtaining his Medical Degree (M.D.) in 1999 and graduating
as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He subsequently completed his
orthopedic surgical residency at the
University of Iowa.
During
his residency, Dr. Sliva served as the Resident
Team Physician covering athletic events
at the University
of
Iowa
including Men’s Football and Men’s Wrestling, from July
2001 to June 2004.
Following his
residency, Dr. Sliva completed a fellowship in spinal surgery at William
Beaumont
Hospital,
in
Royal Oak,
Michigan.
Dr.
Sliva
received several awards and honors
during his
undergraduate and postgraduate education.
Dr.
Sliva is active in continuing medical education. He has written several
published orthopedic articles and given numerous lectures.
Throughout
his training, Dr. Sliva has been actively involved in teaching.
He also donates his time at
the Walter Lawson Children's Home.
Dr. Sliva is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr.
Sliva specializes in spinal trauma, degenerative spinal disorders, cervical spine disorders,
adult and pediatric
spinal reconstruction, and minimally invasive spinal surgery.
When he is not
practicing orthopedics, Dr. Sliva enjoys spending time with his
family, biking,
racquetball, and golf.
